Class of ’90 Character Breakdown

JANE

The New Girl

DANICA

The Social Director

Head of the “P-Building Crew”, a group of friends from various cliques that hang out at lunch and after school. Danica juggles being the center of attention, organizing parties, and introducing Jane to the crew. Danica shares a very close friendship with Mike and this year plans to profess her love for him.

MIKE

The Misfit

The enigmatic friend of the group. Spent his Junior year in Alaska with his dad and step-mom. Prides himself on being involved in a little bit of everything: Band, athletics, drama, etc. Upon meeting Jane, he tries to help her in finding her unique identity. In time, he develops feelings for Jane.

AMY

The Drama Queen

Loves drama, both the class and the lifestyle. Aspires to be a famous actress starring in movies and on Broadway. Has a relationship with Sean at first, and then with his best friend, Brad, and soon becomes torn between them.

BRAD

The Politician

Young Republican, politically minded and hopes to run for public office in his future. Runs the Model U.N. club. Brad is not shy when approaching girls. Eventually, he falls for Amy while she is dating his best friend, Sean.

SEAN

The Yuppie

Aspires to be the next Donald Trump or CEO of a major corporation. Is a little insecure when it comes to girls and confides in his best friend, Brad, when dealing with his relationship with Amy.

MARTY

The Movie Buff

Obsessed with movies and television. Has his friends act in his films over the years and one day wants to be a famous director. Always has a video camera with him and documents nearly everything. Has a crush on his longtime childhood friend, Maddie.

JOEL

The Journalist

Gifted writer, editor of the school paper and yearbook. Has a great sense of humor and helps his friend, Marty, with his movies. Joel never gets involved with the drama in the group but inadvertently becomes a gossip target when Maddie shows interest in him.

MADDIE

The Sweetheart

Genuinely sweet and kind, she’s the girl who knows everyone and everyone loves her. She is constantly being asked out by nearly every guy at school but she seems not to be interested in anyone until she meets Joel, much to the dismay of Marty.

BILLY

The Nerd

A “typical” geek of the ‘80s. Loves computers and Star Trek. Is always picked on by Stefani and Nick. Billy’s not part of the P-Building crew but is friends with Marty.

TIFFANY

The Band Girl

Originally from Tennessee, she is bubbly and always smiling. The high school band consumes her life, almost to a fault. She and her friend, Heather, are more observers in the chaos that ensues within the group.

HEATHER

The Artist

Heather is an artist, a poet, and a romantic. She dates older guys, hangs out at coffee houses, and tries to help her friends see the futility of their high school lives. Although different in personality, she is good friends with Tiffany.

EDDIE

The Rock Star

Very upbeat, aspiring rock star, always trying new trends and searching for his “look”. Dotes on his girlfriend, Jasmine, who becomes the inspiration to a song he writes and performs at the school’s Winter Formal. Upon realizing she has been unfaithful, he spends the rest of the school year withdrawn and sullen.

STEFANI

The Cheerleader

Stuck-up, rude, and the most popular girl in school. She’s attention starved and puts down all those that pose a threat to her and her status. Both Billy and Jane are main targets of Stefani’s hostility.

NICK

The Jock

  • Stefani’s boyfriend and a bit of a muscle-head. Pretty much led around by Stefani and contributes to the torment that she dishes out to those under her radar.

JASMINE

The Cosmo Girl

The poster girl for late 80’s fashion. Shallow and self-involved. Dates Eddie because he’s in a band and is popular. Eventually starts seeing a more popular guy and doesn’t bother to tell Eddie.

TRENT and DAVE

Laid back, stereotypical Californian-wannabe-surfer/skater types. Their main purpose in life is to mack-out on convenience store snacks, scope hot babes, and rock out (not necessarily in that order).

ENSEMBLE

(4-12 Males/Females)

Students at the high school. Some speaking roles. All musical numbers (vocals and choreography)
